Vítor Adão
Chef at Plano (Lisboa, Portugal)

From Trás-os-Montes tainadas to Lisbon’s gastronomic elite, the chef has built a cuisine that honors origins with a contemporary vision.
Born in a village in Chaves in 1990, Vítor Adão grew up around long tables, open doors, and the communal ritual of shared meals. From those rural days, he inherited a deep respect for the product and tradition that now defines his cooking.
Trained from the age of 14 in northern Portugal’s hospitality schools, he worked in kitchens such as DOC, DOP, Ocean, Vila Joya, and London’s 45 Park Lane, and later led the 100 Maneiras group. In 2019, he opened his Lisbon restaurant PLANO, featured in the Michelin Guide since 2022 and named Restaurant of the Year 2024 by Grandes Escolhas.
His cuisine, rooted in the land and memories of Alto Tâmega, blends contemporary technique with a personal narrative—a philosophy he also brought to television as host of Raízes. In 2024, he was recognized as Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the AHRESP Awards and as Revelation Chef at the Paixão Pelo Vinho Awards, cementing a career defined by identity and coherence.
